Inner Worlds, Outer Journeys.
I always struggled with oil paints as a medium to paint with but have long appreciated those artists who have managed to master it. One of those being Professor Ablade Glover, an abstract artist who brings his perceptions of his homeland Ghana to life. Using his paints, a palette knife and a call for patience, he creates images of bustling markets and gorgeous views of nature.
His work can be deeply admired both up close and, stepping back, you can see the fullness of the image come into being.
For me personally, his work reminds me of the busyness of Kumasi market with everyone having something to do, somewhere to go, or some confrontation to engage in (as seen in the first image, ‘Confrontation in the Market’). It’s been so long since I’ve painted, but he has definitely inspired me to start again. Not with oil though!
Tomorrow is the last day to view his work at @octobergallerylondon. Professor Ablade Glover, thank you for your gift.
